The State Grant:

Targets students with the greatest need

  • 89% of recipients' families earn less than $80,000 a year.
  • The Minnesota Chamber of Commerce has said, "the State Grant program is a critical tool for maximizing the number of lower-income people who will have access to and complete higher education."

Has statewide impact

  • Nearly 80,000 students receive a State Grant — that's 1 in 4 Minnesota undergrads at public and private colleges.
  • The Minnesota State Grant program helps students at all higher education institutions in the state — public and private, two-year and four-year, full-time and part-time.
  • State Grants invest in our future. In a global economy, creating an educated workforce will be critical to retaining jobs.
  • Increases degree attainment among non-traditional (age 25 and older) students who are financially independent.
