The Minnesota State Grant allowed me to choose the college that was right for me. At Gustavus, I get one-on-one interactions with faculty, work with an alumni mentor, and am able to participate in a wide variety of co-curricular activities.”

"I think that federal aid is a very important part of being able to further your education. If it weren't for federal aid and scholarships I would not have been able to attend my #1 school. So I guess you could say it changed my life for the better."

"The Minnesota student aid is important not just to me but also a lot of students who have a financial problem. Receiving the aid makes our dream of a higher education come closer because it enables us to concentrate on academic more and worry for finance less. Coming from a poor family, the Minnesota and federal aid have helped my family a lot. It allows me to go to college and focus on my goals. I believe that this aid should continue forever because it can change a person's life. It changed my life and I want it to change other people's live, too!"

"I was told that I would be responsible for contributing to my college education and it was not until after I had selected the institution of my choice that my family told me that they would contribute financially. Because of institutional awards and federal and state awards, I will graduate from a private college with less than $27,000 of debt. Had I chosen other institutions, I do not know what situation I would be facing right now. I do know though that the Minnesota State Grant Program allowed my family to have the privilege of a choice when it comes to my higher education and for that I am extremely grateful."

Without the State Grant, I would have had a lot less options for school. At Gustavus, I have the freedom to explore my interests and to discover new talents outside my discipline.”

With me and two of my siblings in college, getting the State Grant is a great help. I don’t think I’d have been able to come to Gustavus without it.”
